The Company
Our ASX & TSX listed client is a highly successful gold mining company operating in West Africa and are currently looking to build up their mining team with an experienced Assistant General Foreman and Mine Supervisor.
The Role
Reporting to the Mining Manager the key responsibilities of this role are:
- To ensure the mining operation delivers ore to the ROM pad for processing at budgeted tonnes, grade and cost;
- To monitor drill/blast, load/haul and ancillary performance, with a view to constant improvement in both quality and costs;
- Life of Mine (LOM) updates on a rolling yearly basis to produce production budget;
- Ensure quarterly production forecasts are produced on a rolling monthly basis to meet production budget;
- Ensure fortnightly production schedules are produced on a rolling weekly basis to meet production budget;
- Ensure drill & blast designs are produced and implemented;
- Preparation and/or review of all daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports;
- Compilation and/or review of all mining data for budgeting purposes;
- Monitor all paperwork and ensure the relevance and necessity of the data being collected;
- Generation and review of current and future pit designs, waste dumps, haul roads and any other mining infrastructure;
- To achieve the above objectives with due consideration to safety, the environment, statutory obligations and the efficient management of the company’s assets and human resources.
The successful candidate will also be required to:
- Deputise for the Mining Manager when on field breaks
- Assist the Mining Manager with the allocation of resources within the mining department to achieve objectives outlined above.
The Requirements
To successfully fulfil the requirements of this role, applicants must have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- An absolute commitment to safety
- An Engineering Degree
- At least 10 years experience in mining with significant open pit gold exposure
- Excellent knowledge of mining operations including:
- Mine Planning and Scheduling
- Drill and Blast
- Production Reporting
- Mine Design
- Survey
- Safety and Environment
- High level of computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite, Vulcan, CAD software, Scheduling software, etc
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to train less experienced members of the staff
- Ability to liaise and promote liaison between maintenance, mining and contracting personnel
- Previous African experience (highly desirable)
- An appreciation and awareness of working in a foreign country with cultural sensitivities is an absolute must
- French language skills whilst not essential will be highly regarded
